GIE Rhums Réunion is a company established in 1973 by what were then the five main rum companies on the island: Sucreries de Bourbon, Sucreries Léonus Bénard, Adrien Bellier, Quartier Français and Establishments Isautier. Over time the controlling stake was acquired by Quartier Français, who were subsequently bought by French multinational, COFEPP. As part of the deal, divestment was required by an anti-trust ruling and GIE Rhums Réunion along with the Savanna distillery were sold to Réunionnaise du Rhum SAS.
The company continues to operate to this day, with both representatives of Savanna and Isautier on its board. Its historic Charette brand is a blend of rum from all three Réunion distilleries.
