John J. Hunt

John J. Hunt Ltd was a former English wine and spirit merchant and brewing company based in York, England. Although officially registered as a limited company in 1895, the business traced its establishment back to 1834 when the Ebor Brewery was founded in York by Joseph Hunt. In addition to its portfolio of beers, it also sold a variety of wine and spirits that included some Demerara rum.

The company was acquired by J.W. Cameron & Co in 1953 and the brewery was closed down just a few years later. The business entity of John J. Hunt remained in extant until 1992 when its parent company was bought by Wolverhampton & Dudley Breweries Ltd.
