Bidding advice
You can place bids either under the lot image on the main auction page or on the right side of the individual lot page.
Placing a Maximum Bid
Use the "Set your bid limit" button on the left side of the bidding panel to enter the highest amount you're willing to bid on a lot. Our system will then automatically raise your bid in set increments if you’re outbid, up to your maximum. If someone bids above your set limit, we’ll notify you by email so you can choose whether to increase your bid.
Placing a Single Bid
Alternatively, place a single bid by selecting the button on the right side of the bidding panel. The button displays the amount needed for the next increment. For example, if the current highest bid is £50.00, the button will show "+ £5.00" (reflecting a £5.00 increment).
Incremental Bidding Explained
Our system increases bids based on preset increments, as shown in the table below, whether you set a maximum bid or make a single bid.

Last Ward 2007 Habitation Velier 10 Year Old
Velier was founded by Casimir Chaix in Genoa in 1947 as a wine and spirits importer and distributor. By the 1980s they were still a small family-company with less than ten staff. This all changed in 1986 when it was purchased by Luca Gargano, a former brand ambassador for Saint James who was at the time still in his twenties. Under his direction, they selected their first single cask whiskies in 1992, and their first rum in 1996. In the decades that followed, Velier have gone on to become one of the most collectible brands in the industry, and Gargano has positioned them as the one of the foremost authorities and bottlers of rum anywhere in the world.
More than just a bottler of rum, Luca Gargano is considered a visionary in the cane spirits industry, even developing his own classification for different styles of rum in 2015. Many distilleries have since adopted this. Among the classifications is \"pure single rum,\" which denotes a spirit produced on pot stills at a single distillery. This Habitation Velier range is a celebration of these rums \"which best expresses the raw material and the know-how of the distiller.\"
This is a 2009 vintage from Mount Gay, bottled in 2018 using rum originally intended for the Mount Gilboa brand. Mount Gilboa was introduced by Frank Ward in 2006, and takes its name from the original name of the plantation. The brand was unusual for Bajan rum in that it is a pure single rum (produced using only pot stills), and unusual for rum in general in that it is triple distilled.
When Frank Ward sold his shares in Mount Gay to Remy Cointreau in 2014, it ended his family's 100 year ownership of the distillery, as well as production of Mount Gilboa. This release is a vatting of the 19 oldest barrels in the 'Last Ward' batch.
Mount Gay
The oldest surviving commercial rum distillery in the world, with history dating back to 1703. It is today part of the rum holdings of Rémy Cointreau who acquired it from the Ward family in 2014. It produces mostly single blended rums on a combination of pot and column stills.
Habitation Velier
A brand of independently bottled rums from Velier SpA. Introduced in 2015, it was intended to showcase what Luca Gargano has termed as Pure Single Rums - those produced at a single distillery using pot stills. Each release is aged at the distillery and offerings include white, aged and single casks.
Velier
An Italian importer and distributor founded in Genoa in 1947. Under the ownership of Luca Gargano since 1986, it has become one of the most important companies in the world rum. It represents a huge array of brands in Europe as well as marketing a number of its own.
